Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in 01 Black: Review

I'm a big black eyeliner person. I love how a tiny bit of eyeliner can pull an entire look together. I think I have tested out most types of eyeliner -liquid, gel, pencil, powder, etc -and I can't pick and choose which type I like best. I think they all look different and I choose based on what I want my eyeliner to look like on that particular day.
So here's the only gel eyeliner I have tried -the very popular one from Maybelline's Eyestudio range.

I have something of an odd relationship with this product. Once I start using it, I get obsessed and use it everyday and then I suddenly start using a new product and this is forgotten and gets lost in my makeup collection until I rediscover it and it all happens all over again.
But in general, I can tell you this: this is a very good product. It basically is a matte black eyeliner. You obviously need a brush to apply it and I just use the one that comes with the product -I find it is better than any other eyeliner brush I have tried to use it with.

It lasts as long as you want it to, with practically no smudging. It does fade the slightest bit throughout the day, but nothing too obvious.
The only downside to this product is that it dries out quite quickly. You can probably tell from the very first picture that the product is quite dry. But that problem's solved now. Here a quick tip to revive dried out gel eyeliner (if you don't already know this, that is):
Just pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds to one minute, depending on how dry the product is.
This will obviously work only if your eyeliner is packaged in a glass bottle, as is the case with the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner. Make sure to take the lid off (because it had a metal lid).
This is super easy and now I can use every last bit of the product. This is only temporary, though, and I have to do repeat the process every two to three weeks. But it works.

Overall, I definitely recommend this product. I believe this product retails for around Rs. 399. Have you tried it?

  2. This looks great, I have never heard about it before. I use a liquid applicator eyeliner and it is a bit bitty and hard to use, I may have to try this one out for a change as it looks so good!

  5. Gel liner never seems to want to stay put on my lids, but I love the finish this gives. Think I'm going to have to give it a go anyway!
