Haul+ Mini Review: Makeup, Hair-care and Skincare

So I went shopping. Mostly because I was running low on/used up some of my basics, but I may have also picked up some extra bits to add to my routine. I purchased these a few weeks ago so I have had a go at them and can also tell you what I think about them now.

Hair and Skincare

I used up my ever so loved Clean and Clear Foaming Face Wash and wanted to try something else from within that range so I decided to go with the Clean and Clear Morning Energy Face Wash in Brightening Berry. This claims to brighten dull skin and wake you up or something (morning energy?), but honestly I wasn't too impressed by this. The scent is the typical artificial berry scent which is fine, but it didn't leave me feeling clean like the original formula and the beads in it are quite annoying. I'm going to use this up but won't repurchase it. Also, I'm thinking of switching to a soap-free,non foaming cleanser, so let me know if you have a favourite!
I just finished using up a tube of the Garnier Pure Active Pore Unclogging Wash, and here I have another one of it, not because I loved it too much or anything (more about it in the empties post coming soon), but because it came in a pack with the Garnier BB cream I also purchased.

For hair, I wanted to switch up my shampoo so I got myself the Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydraing Shampoo. I've used this for a while now and it's a decent shampoo. It's smells like a hair salon, which is nice and doesn't dry out my hair, which is nice, too!
I also decided to add a hair mask into my rather simple haircare routine. I went with the L'oreal Professionnel Absolut Repair Cellular Masque, which is the one that's meant for dry, damaged hair like mine. It works fine as a conditioner. I use it on towel dried hair and then wash it off. I haven't experienced anything revolutionary since using this, but then again, I've only used this a few times. So we shall see.

Makeup

I had used up both my BB cream and mascara so I decided to stick to my old BB cream and try out a new mascara. So I got a larger tube of Garnier's BB Cream, which I kind of regret now because it is, according to me, meant for drier skin, and come summer my skin turns all the way from dry winter skin to oily summer skin, which, yes, sucks. And this seems a little too shiny even when just applied and requires quite a bit of powdering. Eek.
I have never tried a mascara from Revlon so I went with Revlon's Water Tight Mascara. Honestly, this mascara doesn't claim to do anything but be water resistant and smudge proof, both of which it is. It doesn't do too much of lengthening or volumizing, but isn't a bad mascara, either. It's just a chilled out, everyday mascara -nothing too dramatic, but stays on without budging despite sweat, or even tears. Of course, it is a pain in the ass to take off.

And lastly, my sister got me something I've wanted to try from such a long time -L'oreal's Infallible Eyeshadow in Chocolat. This is basically a tightly pressed powder pigment in a gorgeous, deep brown shimmery shade. I absolutely love it.

And that will be all for today. Can you think of anything I could maybe try out?

  3. Beautiful haul! I love the Garnier BB Cream too! If you do not like it for summers, why not put it aside for winter? I am currently using the good old Clean and Clear as well.
I need to get a new hair mask as well. I think I could give Matrix Hair Masks a try.

    1. I'm thinking of doing just that. But then I need to find a replacement for the Garnier one. Or maybe I'll just skip that step and go straight on to concealer! :)

    1. Yes, I'd much rather have a simple clear liquid to wash my face than having to squash the annoying beads.
