Liquid Lipstick

Lip products have to be some of my favourite type of products to go out shopping for. And I've always been a lipstick girl -even back when only lip gloss was considered cool and lipstick was only meant for mommies. But now we have lipsticks and lip gloss and lip balms and lip stains and whatnot. And then we even have hybrids of these. Liquid lipstick is actually lipstick that's packaged as lip gloss but is actually lipstick in liquid form. I thought that was so interesting so I had to have a go at them. Now I know I haven't tried all the million variations they come in, but I've tried two types -one glossy, one matte. Here are my thoughts:

Well, the first thing I'd like to mention is that the application for these is super easy because you have so much more control over a doe foot applicator that you do a lipstick bullet. So I feel like I need to get a liquid lipstick in a brighter colour because I think it'd give me so much precision.
Now the two liquid lipstick variations that I have tried are from Rimmel and Nyx. More specifically, they are Rimmel's Apocalips Lip Laquer in Celestial and NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm.

Rimmel's version of these are more on the lip gloss side of things. They're super smooth and non-sticky though, but still quite glossy for my liking. However, a quick dab with a tissue and I like it! If you do like lip gloss, these are perfect without blotting, too. They do have a bit of a funny scent, but nothing too bothersome, at least for me. And the best part is that they come in some fantastic shades. I've had my eye on Stellar and Apocalyptic from a long time. Celestial is just your basic everyday pastel pink, that actually looks great with Revlon's Lip Liner in Rose underneath it, but for the purpose of this post I have worn it by itself in the picture below.

NYX's 'lip creams' as they like to call them, are, as the name suggests, super matte. They are, however, quite drying. But they last for ages! And if I put a think layer of lip balm underneath, I find the application isn't as easy as it is without the balm. Hence, my favourite way to wear these is to put on some sort of lip balm over the top, instead of underneath this product.
Stockholm is a gorgeous peachy nude, which is the only nude lip colour I actually like wearing. And if I feel like it's washing me out a little I'll just dab some of Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous (not wearing it in the picture, though). It'll definitely be more of a peach on fairer or darker skin.

I do love both of these products, despite their short comings, and will surely try out a few more in the future.

Have you fallen for the liquid lipstick trend yet?
