All About Books: Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr

I thought it was only right if this blog represented everything I love -which includes makeup, skincare, haircare and books. Of course, there is a lot of other things I love, too, but books and reading are such a big part of my life. Hence, this new series of posts you can look forward to (if you are a reader): All About Books. I'll review books, tell you what I've been reading, have book hauls, and do whatever other book-related things I can do.
I haven't had much time to read since this year began, but one book I finished was Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr from the Wicked Lovely series. And here's what I think about it:

Ink Exchange is the second book in the Wicked Lovely series of novels. I believe there are five of them in total and I read Wicked Lovely quite a while ago.

First, let me put it out there that these books have beautiful covers. I actually started reading this series because I judged the books by their covers.
These books are basically fantasy fiction -they're about 'faeries' and their magical, yet disturbing world. It is beautifully described, but it's no fairy tale you can read lightly. Well, I wouldn't say its a 'dark' book but it isn't bright and happy either.
I actually enjoyed Wicked Lovely a lot which led me to purchase the second book: Ink Exchange.

I have mixed feelings about this book. A lot of people preferred Ink Exchange to Wicked Lovely, but I'm not one of them. Ink Exchange is the story of Leslie, who is the friend of the female protagonist in the first book. In the beginning, I was sort of bored, but the story started to pick up pace around the middle and I was really enjoying it. However, by the end, the story dragged again and it all just became too much. Therefore, as much as I was excited about the third book when I was halfway through Ink Exchange, by the end, I really didn't want to read a word more about the 'faerie world'.
All in all, I'd recommend the first book, because I personally liked it better. Ink Exchange was an all right book for me -I wish it were a little less intense and had a tad bit more humor to relieve the reader from all that darkness. But if you're a fan of faerie romance novels, or are looking for something new and interesting to read, you should give these a go!
