Why People Are Like Lace

I always went with ‘people suck’. But I have come to realize that they don’t. No, they don’t suck. But they break and change and things inevitably fall apart. So don’t attach yourself to people. In time you will learn that you will do it anyway. You will attach yourself to people and it will make you happy and you will wonder why you ever thought people sucked. Like I mentioned earlier – no, they don’t suck. People are amazing. Relationships are amazing. Relationships lead to memories. Memories are like capsules of time. They are amazing. You need to collect them – as many as you can. It’s the only way to exist, really. And for that, you need people. So people aren’t horrible. What they are, however, is fragile.

New Year's Resolutions and What I Wore

New year resolutions are bullshit. So let's move on to what I wore on New Year's Eve.

Autumn Trends I'm Digging

Yeah whatever it doesn't get cold here in Mumbai. We've discussed this before. Moving on to the autumn trends I'm going to be excited about anyway, regardless of the weather. All the cool people say, "I don't follow trends, hate them."
I will admit, I quite like trends. They make me feel in synch with the universe. Or the blogging world, anyway. So here are three Autumn/Winter 2015 clothing trends I'm terribly excited about.

Being a Grown-up: A Review

I decided now’s a good time to review “grown-up” life, because I’m in that odd in-between time when I’m hot out of college but I’ve lived a good two and half months of adult-ish life. Maybe this isn’t exactly adult life because I’m not making tons of money out of my job and I don’t have children I have to take to school. But I don’t go to college anymore and make my own breakfast. I think this is adult enough.

And you know what? It’s kind of awesome. Sure I often have the adult-life-isn’t-worth-the-hype moments when I just want to go back to being younger. Although to be honest, I was never very good at childhood. And when I speculate over my younger years, I did have some really fun times, but I didn’t achieve much, really. Was average at academics, crap at sports, never participated in extra-curricular activities – I basically just passively existed.

Now my mind is perpetually scared and nervous and excited. Now I look forward to meeting friends (that have stuck around over the years) on weekends. Now I get thrills out of reading struggle stories of successful old women and men and think hey that could be me someday. And these are my so-called years of struggle and its kind of fun.
The internet has never been a more informative space and music never more inspiring than right now. I’ve never had more evenings when I walk back home lost in thought, thinking about where my life may be headed, wondering what every memory I have may mean for my future.

I definitely believe now that graduation is a milestone. Not because of much else but because it marks the end of one kind of existence and the beginning of another. I often look at “old photos” that are not older than ten months and wonder where that phase has gone and if it will ever come back.

It probably won’t. And that’s not such a bad thing – I know that now.

Shapeshifters

When I look around me, my eyes absorb what I see and I decide who I need to be accordingly. Rectangular rooms, a cat and people who look a little like me turn me into one kind of person. White desks, new faces, Apple computers and coffee mugs everywhere turn me into an awfully quiet version of myself. And stone pillars, wooden benches and friendly faces make me the happiest version of myself. But the list goes on.
I have never questioned why one needs to be so many different people.

That’s just how it is.

Nude Everything: Eyes

To accompany my very cool nude nails, I like to wear nude eyes, too. And of course, one way to do nude eyes is to wear nothing at all (which I love, too), or to use nude products. Skip the black eyeliner and brown eyeshadow and work with nude products in different textures. Here are two products I’ve been using loads recently.

Nude Everything: Nails

My obsession with nude nail polish is not a new one, but definitely one that has amplified immensely over the past couple of months. Honestly, I probably have already written something similar to this very post, but I’m going to write this anyway because I cannot seem to get over this trend. Nude nail polish. Nude lipstick. Nude eyeshadow. I’m thinking this would make for perfect content for a mini series.
As for nude nails, it has been all that has been adorning my nails for the past couple of months. No jokes. Every time I try to switch things up with some of my old favourites –a pale pink, a butterscotch or even my supposed all-time favourite, a fire engine red, two days later, I am so annoyed with how my nails look, I wipe it all off for a nude again. There’s something very appealing about how clean and minimalist nude nail polish can look.

Urban Decay Naked Palettes in India!

If you're anything like me and have been hooked on to the blogging world for a long, long time, this particular piece of information might tickle your fancy. Bloggers have been talking about the Urban Decay Naked Palette for a good while now. It has been on my wishlist for much too long. It always seemed a little like heaven to me -beautiful but untouchable because I had never actually seen it.
Now imagine my surprise when I saw it sitting on a stand in a local store.
Yeah.

Day to Night: Summer Dresses

I have a new found liking for dresses. I always thought I was a black skinny jeans kinda girl. Now, the thought of black skinny jeans make me cringe. Sadly, I own too many of them to completely abandon them. I have a new interest in denim and dresses. I think they can both be so versatile and transform smoothly from daytime to nighttime. Here's an old school outfit collage post with a few ideas to transform a summer dress from day to night. Let's leave the denim for another day?

The Wrap Up

I've been conscious about this being the fifth and last year of my college life for a while now.

What comes after the absolute end? I always wondered. And wondered and wondered. I expected to shed a few tears. Three months ago, I didn't realize how close to the end I was. Maybe when I have one month to go it'll hit me, I thought. One month to go and it still didn't hit me. Maybe when I have one week to go it'll hit me. One week to go and still nothing. Maybe on my absolute last day it'll hit me. My last day went by like a breeze.

Dry Skin Saviours

The seasons are changing. Winter is gone for good. Summer is almost here (or spring, should we call it?). And the air has this uncanny dryness to it, which is so uncharacteristic of Mumbai weather. I like to call it the dry calm before the humid storm.  My skin has been getting oddly dry for March. Sometimes even drier than it got during December or January.
Here are the products I use to salvage the situation.

My Everyday Makeup

I'm one of those people who are always very affected by the weather. The heat, the cold, the humidity -I am extremely conscious about these things and they affect my moods and behavior greatly. This isn't always ideal because I hate hot humid climates, it's hot and humid where I live, which is why the chances of me being in a perpetual bad mood are very high.
To counter this, I like to get myself excited for the change in seasons. Even though I'm not looking forward to the blazing summers, I'm looking forward to bright nail polish and tank tops and shorts and sunglasses. It may sound idiotic, but I have learned that it actually works. Similarly, I switch my makeup up every now and again based on what works best with the air around me. This is currently what I've been wearing.

The Best Kind of Glitter: Sparkly Nails

I do enjoy my fair share of glitter. Funnily though, as much as I enjoy the sight of it, now that I think about it, I don't end up buying anything too glittery. Glittery nails, too, are something I like the idea of, but don't find myself wearing all too often. Until I discovered this particular combo. Burgundy. With gold glitter.
It felt like love. And I think it was.

The Year I Was Waiting For

Hello there. It's been a while. And although one look at my blog may make it seem like I spent the past month and half laying in bed, too lazy to open my laptop and write something in here, that is only partially true. I have actually been up to a lot of different things. But I also took a break from blogging, and not just out of sheer laziness, but because I had some thinking to do.

Online Shopping at Jabong.com: A Review

Pretty much everyone I know are into online shopping, it's not even new anymore. But for some reason, I've not been big on buying stuff online (except for books). I don't know what it is. Maybe it's because I always feared stuff would reach me in a bad condition, or they wouldn't fit, or something. But I shopped from Jabong.com recently and I actually quite enjoyed the process! Here are my thoughts-

Dress For The Season: Fall '14 Outfit Ideas

Despite the fact that it's still hot out here in Mumbai, I can definitely feel the air getting dry and the evenings getting just that tad bit cooler. You know what that means? Winters are close. In anticipation of our upcoming winters, here's a bunch of outfit ideas.
Let's start with admitting that many of us live in places that don't actually have seasons. Mumbai, for instance. We don't have an autumn. We barely have a winter, although I like to believe we do (we do!). But for the sake of this post, let's call this season fall, all right? I believe in enjoying trends of every season, no matter what. Also, I don't believe you need giant coats and heavy knitwear to classify your outfit as fall/winter appropriate. The world is a flexible place. Let's tailor fall clothing to whatever temperature we are bestowed with, yeah?

Product Love: L'oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara

Ever since the very first time I tried out mascara, I've been a fan. I love how a good mascara can just pull your entire makeup together in the most subtle way. I'm a huge Maybelline The Falsies lover, but I do drift every now and then. L'oreal is one of the few brands that almost always gets their mascaras perfectly on point. The last L'oreal mascara I had tried was the Telescopic Clean Definition Mascara, and I loved that. But this one? I love it so much better.

The Perfect Pick-Me-Up Shower Product

If you read my Crappy Days post you probably know that I've been ill with jaundice and therefore haven't left my home in weeks. I miss putting some makeup on, getting all dressed up and going out for the day. I literally put on some red lipstick when I was going to the doctor's today, but then took it off in the last minute because I was sure he'd think I'm crazy. But anyway, the one thing that has been my go-to pamper product has been this Original Source shower gel. It has provided me with a great deal of happiness, I can tell you that.

#CosmopolitanChic: Outfit Pieces That Multi-Task

Vegas.com asked me to create a few different outfits that would be perfect for a day at Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, one of the premier hotel properties in, you guessed it, Las Vegas, as part of their #CosmopolitanChic blog challenge. Now, I've never actually been to Vegas, but I thought it would be fun to put together a few outfits that are appropriate for a vacation when you want to be super glamourous without having to pack up your entire wardrobe.

Crap Health, Hospital Visits and Just Having A Bad Time

So here you go. Here's a life update for those of you who still lurk around my rather lonely blog. But it's been lonely for a reason and here's why. If you follow me on twitter you probably already know that I've been ill with jaundice and typhoid and whatnot. But this isn't the first time I've been ill in the past couple of months. Instead, it almost feels like this was the cherry on top of the cake.
